I know I’ve been hit and miss in regularly updating my website and to be honest, I miss connecting with everyone. I have been active on Facebook and Instagram and plan on continuing that, but I also enjoy writing longer articles.
To address that, I wanted to share some of my family life with you. Honestly, it’s been a busy few months in our household. Really, it’s been a busy year for us.
One daughter got married last year.
Another graduated from college this year with a degree in music.
And the five boys keep me busy in various ways.
My oldest son (on my right) is an engineering major in college and although he’s very independent I still worry about him. My next oldest son, on my left in the back, is actually 6’4″ tall (he’s standing off the sidewalk) and is a total history buff. My next oldest son with the blue tie is a math whiz and is always cooking up things for the others to do, my 2nd youngest son (in the red shirt) is a sweet child who likes to keep the peace and play Legos. Finally, my youngest son is also a math whiz, loves to play with his brothers, and is full of energy.
And of course, I’m very blessed to still be in love with my husband John after almost 30 years of marriage. I know, I got married when I was like 12 or something. 🙂
Did I mention they are all 2nd degree black belts in karate? At least I feel safe when we are out and about. Below are my oldest daughters and my husband John, who has joined in on the karate obsession. I have stayed out of it in deference to my knees and the fact that someone needs to be cheering everyone on!
As for me, I’ve been doing my mom/speaking/weight loss thing.
I still homeschool the younger four boys. In fact, this is my 18th year of homeschooling. I guess that makes me a veteran of some kind. Here we are heading for a field trip at the end of last school year.
Over the past few months have done several weight loss talks, written regularly for HealthyWay, and always do my best to model a healthy lifestyle. I recently did a walk 100 mile in June and July challenge and completed it. I liked it so much I’m on track to walk over 100 miles again in August.
I documented my progress on my Garmin and then took a picture. But to add more interest, I put an old “before” picture with it on Instagram (follow me @diane_carbonell) as a reminder of how far I’ve come.
I’m glad to be writing this catch-up post because I wanted to include more personal touches into my website rather than focusing solely on weight loss. I’m going to be adding more recipes, sharing some of what’s going on with us, and continuing to encourage you in a healthy lifestyle for you and your family.
